arcus chair
a study in the balance of curves and stability, this chair was constructed with bent-laminated cherry legs and back supports and an eastern maple-veneered bent plywood seat. i also patterned and sewed the upholstery myself.
the back supports were bent over the legs on the same form so their curves fit together. the maple veneer was shop sawn and carefully cut into the ray pattern, evocative of my sunburst chest (the maple is the same board as the maple panels in the chest).
