sewing table
long before starting the PTSW program, i knew i wanted to build a sewing table when i had the design freedom to do so. crafted from pnw native red alder and western maple, my design intention was to showcase wood that is generally hidden.
wanting to give the impression that the drawers are floating, i chose to use sliding dovetail slides. these were easy to make and ensure the drawers are supported when opened. the drawer boxes also have lids to keep dust out.
there’s a removable piece in the top, revealing the compartment for the sewing machine—allowing the surface of the machine to be flush with the table top. when not in use the piece can be replaced and the table can be used as a desk or work surface.
