up for interpretation
inspired by the ‘m’ in my signature, this table quickly evolved from a simple squiggle. constructed from red alder laid block-by-block, i wanted to embrace the “art” in the title of my final class. inspired by john grade and pushing against my own perfectionism, i chose a build method that forced me to be flexible and follow my intuition. perfect in its imperfection.
through the design and build process, my interpretation of the form was constantly evolving. every person who looked at it saw something different. not wanting to force the viewer’s perspective—much like my flexible construction—what you see is “up for interpretation”.
