windsor chair
my first foray into turning and chair construction, the undercarriage and stiles are western maple and i chose to modify the double-bobbin leg pattern we were given. the red alder seat was carved by hand using a scorp, inshave, travishers, drawknife and spokeshave. the douglas fir spindles were shaped by hand on a shave horse. the crest is steam bent black locust and the stiles are pinned with copper nails. as is traditional, there is black milk paint under the green.
